Gardens & Grounds
We are situated in 11 acres of grounds at Nithbank for our guests to enjoy. They are continually being managed and restored. There are benches strategically positioned around the grounds for you to sit and enjoy the views.
The terrace at the back of the house has outstanding views, here you can sit on the patio at the large table and 8 chairs or at a bistro table with 2 chairs. The terrace is mainly flat but the slabs are old and are uneven in places.
Please be advised that the gardens are steep in places and not all the paths are level.
Steps are made from local sandstone and can be slippery when wet.
Please take extra care on the paths, steps and by the ponds, as even in bright daylight, paths are dark, undulating and unforgiving.
For your own safety, we ask you to take extra care in these areas, and proceed at your own risk.
We have 2 ancient woodlands with meandering uneven paths:
One leads you from the upper gardens to a burn, set of ponds and onward down to the River Nith.
The other is a circular route taking the path from the front of the house down past the old stables.
We provide waterproof coats and boots for your convenience with our compliments, if you would like to explore outside and are not quite prepared.
We also have Walking Sticks, Headlamps, Torches, Binoculars, maps & guides for guests to borrow with our compliments.
Please get in touch with any further queries & we hope to welcome you to Nithbank very soon.
Thank you
