Reviews Here's what our lovely guests have to say....
Wow! The house sits in beautiful grounds and we spent some time, wandering around and sitting admiring the stunning views and the riverside. The very spacious room was amazing, with a fabulous bathroom, extremely comfortable bed and sofa and plenty of amenities. Breakfast was superb with a great choice and again Melanie and John could not do more for us. We spent a day cycling and another walking in the area which Melanie kindly printed some maps for us to navigate our routes which was a huge help! On our final night we chose dinner in the stables, both the location and food were UNBELIEVABLE!!! Definitely recommend this place!

The Best B&B Ever…
From the warm welcome to the warm scones to the beautiful room to the amazing breakfast this was the best B & B we have ever stayed in.
Melanie and John have gone the extra mile to make this an unmissable stopover if you are in the area.

We travelled to Nithbank from our home in Kent, and after a long journey it was just what we needed. Beautiful house in a good location, lovely views and beautiful garden. Greeted with warm scones and homemade jam, served to our room, which was large and very comfortable. Lots of special little touches made this place special and I would recommend to anyone that you will have trouble bettering this place. Very clean, host very helpful and knowledgable of the area, great breakfast included using local suppliers where possible. Many thanks its been enjoyable and relaxing.

We went to stay at Nithbank (visiting UK from NZ) for one night and ended up extending our stay. We would have loved to stay longer! Nithbank has been renovated beautifully and both Mel & John could not have been more welcoming. The breakfast was amazing, cooked with thought and good quality, local ingredients. The view from the room would be hard to beat and the bed was by far the most comfortable of our trip. We have been recommending a stay at Nithbank to everyone we can. A true escape in a pretty special location. Hope to visit again.Glenn

My wife & I decided to escape the city and enjoy some quality time together at Nithbank House. From the moment we arrived and throughout our stay, Melanie & John made us feel welcome and relaxed.
Our room in the wing we stayed meant we had our privacy, it also had wonderful views of the river and beautiful grounds.
The breakfast was a real highlight. Top quality, local ingredients cooked perfectly.
It’s obvious that a lot of time and consideration has gone into making this destination venue a truly memorable place to stay.
This is Bed and Breakfast on a whole new level!

Oh wow! We’ve Fallen in Love with Nithbank!
This is a beautifully restored country house set in stunning woodland.
The attention to detail in the house is second to none. Mel & John were perfect hosts, providing the most delicious scones & breakfast.
We stopped over en route home from a trip to Scotland. Whilst dinner isn’t provided it was a short walk to the village where we had an enjoyable dinner at the Buccleuch & Queensberry Arms Hotel.

We stayed at Nithbank before heading north. From the moment we arrived to the excellent breakfast before we left we could not fault this beautiful place. Our huge suite was spotless & had everything you could need. John & Melanie were so welcoming. Excellent value for money. Cant wait to come back to explore more of this beautiful area & another of Melanies breakfasts!

Nithbank is in a superb location for seeing all the sights in Dumfries and Galloway and it is perfect for walking and cycling. The room that my boyfriend and I stayed in was really large and clean. Every morning we had the most fantastic Scottish breakfast! (Definitely would go back just for that breakfast)
Shout out to Mel and John, the owners of Nithbank! They made sure we had a great time! All in all it was a fabulous stay and the service is second to none! We can’t wait to visit again!

Nithbank is tucked away down a private treelined drive and surrounded by beautiful gardens. It’s only a short walk to the village of Thornhill which has some quaint shops and places to have a bite to eat. We found the area of Dumfries & Galloway has something for everyone to enjoy; Drumlanrig Castle is a must to visit when staying!
The welcome from the owners was genuine and warm with nothing too much trouble. Our room was sumptuous, well equipped and exceptionally clean, it was difficult to leave the comfort and relaxation of the sofa with such amazing river & countryside views.
Stunning country house; a hidden gem!
