A beautiful oasis of calm with warm hosts & fabulous rooms.
The setting will take your breath away!
First time stay with wonderful hosts Mel and John. The rooms are simply beautiful, very tastefully decorated, with local antiques in a contemporary setting. There is a really luxurious and homely feel to all the guest spaces.
The house is set in a stunning location with gardens which reach down to the river Nith. It’s so peaceful there and there is an abundance of wildlife for company. Everywhere you look there are lovely touches for guests from the well provisioned rooms to the books, flowers and area guides.
We had the most beautiful breakfast with all local produce.
Mel and John care deeply about positive community impact and it shows in their sustainability practices and genuine love for the area. If you want warm and friendly hosts, beautiful rooms in a stunning location - stay here.

    Sheer Perfection…

     

    From the moment we arrived to the time we left we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay. A really warm welcome from Melanie and John with warm scones brought up to our room to begin with.

     

    The room was huge with a comfy sofa by the window which provided wonderful views over the countryside. The bathroom to was great and everything had been thought of to make out stay as comfortable as possible.

     

    Breakfast the following morning was another treat. Great home cooked food and wonderful service. To my mind Nithbank is up there with the best B&B’s in the country. We will definitely be back and will be staying for more than one night!

    Home from Home…

     

    Nothing was too much trouble for our splendid, welcoming hosts, John and Melanie.

     

    After a terrible drive up the M6 John could see that I’d had enough of driving and kindly drove us to the pub for dinner; Melanie collected us. This is a really comfortable B & B, the breakfast is superb. We both had a splendid plate of fresh fruit and yoghurt each morning, followed by essentially whatever we wanted. The poached eggs were perfect.

     

    The grounds are amazing with great views of the Nith salmon river at the bottom of the garden. We enjoyed the home made jams including ginger and rhubarb which went well with the scones and cream tea. We were presented with a jar on departure! Thoroughly nice, clean, relaxing spacious rooms. Shame it’s so far from London!

    Heaven in Dumfriesshire…

     

    Just a wonderful place with great hosts that make you feel so welcome. The bedroom was so comfortable and well equipped. I highly recommend Nithbank. The wife and I really enjoyed our stay and it is worth a detour.

     

    Sadly only stayed one night, best night’s sleep, flawless taste everywhere, will be back many times.

    Gorgeous Treasure in the Countryside….

     

    My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. The Country House is situated about a mile from the delightful town of Thornhill. It is a beautiful renovated 18th century manor type house.

     

    The view from our large spacious and well appointed bedroom was stunning. Green flowing hills and forests and the river Nith. The bathroom was similarly large with modern bath and state of the art shower.

     

    The tastefully decorated dining room looked out onto the beautiful garden. The owner and his wife were incredibly warm and welcoming. Breakfast was scrumptious and beautifully prepared. Recommend Nithbank very highly!

    Umwerfendes Country House…..

     

    Wir waren leider nur eine Nacht dort. Wurden schon vor der Anreise per Mail Willkommen geheißen. Empfangen wurden wir mit Scones und selbstgemachter Konfitüre. Zimmer und Bad waren zauberhaft eingerichtet – mit allem Komfort. Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Blick in die Natur. Die Lage war absolut ruhig; trotzdem in Fussweite nach Thornhill. Ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen und abschalten.

    Nithbank Country Estate is the perfect place to stay, beautiful accommodation, delicious locally sourced breakfast and stunning grounds. A huge warm welcome from Melanie when we arrived and the freshly baked scones and homemade jam were soon brought to our room, lovely.

     

    Thankyou for your attention to detail, Nithbank is most definitely a hidden gem.
