A beautiful oasis of calm with warm hosts & fabulous rooms.The setting will take your breath away!First time stay with wonderful hosts Mel and John. The rooms are simply beautiful, very tastefully decorated, with local antiques in a contemporary setting. There is a really luxurious and homely feel to all the guest spaces.The house is set in a stunning location with gardens which reach down to the river Nith. It’s so peaceful there and there is an abundance of wildlife for company. Everywhere you look there are lovely touches for guests from the well provisioned rooms to the books, flowers and area guides.We had the most beautiful breakfast with all local produce.Mel and John care deeply about positive community impact and it shows in their sustainability practices and genuine love for the area. Nithbank is a beautiful country house, set amidst stunning scenery.
John and Mel, our hosts, were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. They are both very knowledgeable about Nithbank and the surrounding area, recommending places perhaps we might like to visit.
The food is fantastic, all local produce. Mel also caters brilliantly for people who have food intolerances.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Nithbank and certainly will be going back.

We decided with my partner to spend time in Scotland in December/January. We found Nithbank on the net and travelled to the hotel.
What a site!! Amazing surroundings, lovely sites to visit, local walks to die for and most of all the drive to this magic place was absolutely gobsmacking! Such a lovely house and the owners were staright away available to answer any questions/requests that we both had.
Mel and John are an amazing, friendly and helpful couple. You can see the passion and the dream they’re living!
We will visit them again very soon and we recommend it to anybody out there.
Nous avions decide, ma compagne et moi-meme de partir decouvrir une partie de l’Ecosse. Etant domicilies en Angleterre nous ne connaissions pas vraiment ce coin. Quelques recherches plus tard (internet) nous avons decide de telephoner et de reserver une chamber a Thornhill et avons jete notre devolu sur Nithbank car les photos etaient absolument superbes et la personne au telephone tres plaisante. Nous sommes arrives a destination et le spectacle a vraiment commence! Quelle vue, quelle maison/manoir et les environs sont merveilleux!! Impressionnant et impressionnes! L’interieur est encore plus deroutant et le gout des patrons incroyables! Je n’ai jamais vu autant de canapes dans une maison. Les chambres sont tres plaisantes, spacieuses et de tres bons gouts. La cerise sur le gateau vient egalement de Mel et de John, les proprietaires de ce site idyllique. Gentils, patients, a votre service et passionnes. Nous recommendons cet endroit sans aucunes retenues et avons deja reserves nos dates pour le mois de mai prochain! Allez-y les yeux fermes!

Gorgeous countryside location and very close to Drumlanrig Castle and the little town of Thornhill
My friend and I stayed at this special place overnight and it was really wonderful. Melanie and John’s attention to detail was fantastic.
They have thought of everything to welcome guests and make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Thanks we will be returning soon!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough, Melanie and John are the perfect hosts, the house and grounds are breathtaking and its so comfortable and relaxing.
The hospitality is second to none. Melanie cooks a perfect full Scottish breakfast and we would return in a heartbeat.

We had a really excellent time during our stay at a Nithbank. Nothing was too much trouble, Mel & John are simply the best hosts with a wonderfully warm welcome.
They showed us the immediate area around the house and we marveled at the views to be had, which could have been missed had we not known about them. They gave us detailed information about other areas to visit.
Mel made us the most fabulous food.
Our room felt sumptuous and grand, the bed was so comfortable and the views across the valley are stunning.
We felt like VIP guests the whole time we were there.

Our room was a beautiful period room, with views of the stunning countryside, from both of it’s windows.
John and Mel, our hosts, couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgeable about the house and the area.
The food was outstanding, full of flavour and all locally source too.
Certainly 5*. Looking forward to our next visit to Nithbank.
